what is
Centering Prayer ?
"We embrace the process of transformation in Christ,
both in ourselves and in others,
through the practice of Centering Prayer."
-Thomas Keating On The Vison Of Contemplative Outreach
Father Thomas Keating is well known for breathing life back into Christian Contemplation. He first became interested in the Christian contemplative tradition in 1940. He realized then that devloping a personal relationship with God was a key message carried throughout the Scriptures. It was not until 1961 that he would begin to develop, with other contemplatives, the Christian Contemplative practice of Centering Prayer. Contemplative Outreach was later formed in 1984 to support the growing numbers of practitioners in this developing spiritual community.
